THE NEW BMW 5 SERIES TOURING

BMW is proud to announce the launch of the new BMW 5 Series Touring, due to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Four engine types will be available to choose from initially, along with BMW’s intelligent all-wheel drive system, xDrive, available in two models for the first time.
Design highlights.
The headlights extend as far as the new BMW active kidney grille, which now has extra functionality. It remains closed, opening only when the engine requires additional cooling. This helps contribute to a lower drag score for the new 5 Series Touring.
Aero-dynamics have improved across the entire body, with the introduction of air breathers and an aero curtain. Additionally, all models have twin exhaust pipes for a sportier design.
New-generation EfficientDynamics engines.
The new BMW 5 Series Touring is powered by new-generation EfficientDynamics engines, equipped with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. There are two petrol options (530i and 540i xDrive) and three diesel options (520d, 530d and 530d xDrive).
All engine units feature BMW BluePerformance technology for reduced emissions. In addition, special engine housing lowers noise levels and quickens warm-up. In combination with the 5 Series Touring standard Professional Navigation system, the vehicle intelligently reads the road to predict gear changes and engine braking for a more fluid drive.
Lightweight aluminium chassis components and improved suspension systems mean that the BMW 5 Series Touring has improved cornering, handling and driving comfort. The BMW EfficientLightweight advances make it up to 100kg lighter than previous models. BMW xDrive is also available for two BMW 5 Series Touring models, giving effortless traction and optimised stability.
The new 5 Series Touring’s body uses an intelligent multi-material mix to combine weight reduction with significant improvements in structural integrity and safety. Its lightweight design measures have been applied in every area of the vehicle, preserving the even weight distribution that BMW is known for.
Variable Damper Control and Adaptive Drive.
The optional Variable Damper Control system allows drivers to manually adjust the driving characteristics to match their individual preferences.
Three different modes can be selected: Comfort is for normal, comfortable driving (on longer trips, for example), Sport is for maximum driving pleasure, and Adaptive mode tailors the vehicle’s responses according to the driver’s wishes and the driving situation.
