A new model year rolls around and the number on the window sticker ticks up. BMW is no different in this tradition, bumping up pricing for the new 2017 5-Series. The actual increase is mitigated somewhat by now-standard LED headlights, 18-inch wheels, sport seats, driver-attention monitor and forward-collision alert.
Base price starts at $52,195 for the 2017 BMW 530i -- a $1,000 increase over the outgoing model year. The 530i xDrive starts at $54,495. Those wanting the 540i will need to shell out $57,445 to start, which is $600 more than the 2016 model. All-wheel drive in the form of the 540i xDrive starts at $59,745. No other pricing has been announced.
Also changing for 2017 are the badge numbers. Like the points in “Whose Line is it Anyway,” the badge numbers still don’t matter. The “28” will now be “30” while the “35” gets bumped to “40.”
The 2017 BMW 5-Series makes its official debut at the 2017 Detroit auto show early next month. The new Bimmer will be in showrooms early the following month.
