BMW HOLOACTIVE TOUCH SYSTEM.

The BMW HoloActive Touch system concept debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on 5 - 8 January 2017.
The innovative BMW HoloActive Touch system interface acts as a virtual touchscreen, combining the advantages of BMW Head-up Display, BMW gesture control and direct touchscreen operation with extra features. Its free-floating display is controlled without physical contact, yet driver-vehicle interaction found in conventional touchscreens can still be enabled.
Positioned next to the steering wheel at the height of the centre console, the full-colour display is generated using reflections to create the illusion of a floating display inside the car. It displays configurable control pads controlled by the driver's hand movements, registering the position of their fingertips and activating the relevant function when a fingertip makes contact. BMW HoloActive Touch also allows access to the wide variety of BMW Connected services.
BMW has presented pioneering advances in display and operating concepts at previous Consumer Electronic Shows. The BMW gesture control technology unveiled in 2015 is now available in the new BMW 5 and 7 Series models. The AirTouch system showcased in 2016 took things a step further, using simple hand gestures to hand activate control pads on a display in the dashboard.
BMW HoloActive Touch formed part of the BMW i Inside Future study, which showcased the mobility experience set to be offered by seamlessly connected and autonomously-driven cars in the future.
